The ninth annual BRS Museum Scholarship will be awarded this May to a Nokomis High School senior. Applications must be completed and turned in by May 1.
Established by Steve Jachino in memory of his parents, John and Clara Jachino, the BRS Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating NHS senior based on a number of criteria, including excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, community service and leadership. Athletic participation is not required. Applicants will be required to complete a questionnaire and an essay on goals and plans after high school. A studentís cumulative grade point average also will be considered.
A committee comprised of Jachino and members of the museumís board of directors will select the winner, who will receive funds to be used for college studies. Applications are available at the museum, at Nokomis High School or clicking the link.
