A cool, windy day greeted more than 200 people at the rededication of the the youth baseball fields in Litchfield on May 8.
Ray Schalk’s grandson, Jimmy Schalk, was in attendance, along with more than a dozen members of the Schalk family.
It was Opening Day for the youth baseball teams in Litchfield. Following a short parade, Litchfield Youth Baseball, Inc. president Roger Krabbe greeted the crowd. David Pritchard talked about using lessons from the baseball diamond and applying them to life. He then gave the invocation.
Ray Schalk biographer Brian Cooper gave a short speech before Bill Dees concluded the ceremony with the unveiling of the plaque that honors Ray Schalk.
Cooper then presented the family a more detailed slide show at the new location of Maverick Steaks & Spirits in Litchfield. The family concluded their tour with a stop at the BRS Museum.
