|History of the Museum|
The Bottomley-Ruffing-Schalk Baseball Museum honors numerous contributors to the game of baseball from the central Illinois area. Named after National Baseball Hall of Famers Jim Bottomley, Red Ruffing and Ray Schalk, the museum honors almost 100 people who have contributed to baseball in some significant manner. Check the Honorees section of this website for more detail on who is honored in the museum.
The museum itself started in 1981 with a small display in a downtown Nokomis restaurant's window front. Since that time, three other Nokomis locations have been home to the museum, including the present facility located on Illinois Route 16 at 121 W. State St.
