Congrats Nokomis Jr. High Baseball

The Nokomis Braves Jr. High School baseball team won the IESA Class 1A state title on Sep. 29 with a 4-1 win over Peoria Limestone Walters at East Peoria's Eastside Center.

The Braves celebrated a perfect 18-0 record by winning all three games at the state tournament in a 24-hour period. Reid Detmers was the winning pitcher in Friday's quarterfinals, throwing five innings in a 7-0 win over Joliet St. Paul. Andrew Herpstreith tossed the final two innings.

Herpstreith pitched the final three innings of Saturday's semifinal in relief of Ryan Archibald as the Braves defeated Hamilton 10-3. In the final, Detmers pitched the first four innings and Archibald completed the contest.

Other members of the championship squad are Austin McDowell, Connor Engelman, Kamden Ransdell, Abel Gunn, Camren Neisler, Josh Clymer, BJ Chausse, Marckus Coss, Ben Marley and Brenden Friesland. Coaches are Bob Davis and Kris Detmers.
